With the Cheddar Challenge taking a new direction, this site will now become a resource for both mountain biking and road cycling in Cheddar and the surrounding area.

The cycling event now in its second year was created by David Moore (Broadway House) and Paul Baker (Cheddar Cycle Store). Hover to see them at work.

Sign on will be all day Friday, Saturday morning 7-9am and Sunday morning 7-8.30am

The Saturday ride will leave at 10am, and Sunday at 9am.

NB All Sunday riders of the 160k route will need to cross the timing mat after 100k.

Cheddar Challenge MTB Race

2007 saw the rebirth of the Cheddar Challenge in the form of the Kona Cheddar Bikefest. Almost 800 riders joined the ‘Festivities’ and challenged one of the most demanding courses in the UK event scene and put Cheddar back on the UK events map. 

2008 will be the 2nd year the Cheddar Bikefest sponsored by KONA Bikes will return on the 27-28th September 2008 with a slightly changed setup and with a new course.

The team behind the Bristol Bikefest, encouraged through the increasing popularity of the Bristol event, decided to apply a similar concept to the much loved Cheddar Challenge course.

This year a slightly different format with a few extra categories. The NiteRider Night Time Trial will be on the Friday Night (26th Sept). Saturday (27th Sept) 10 hour enduro event in solo, pair or team categories. Sunday (28th Sept) will feature the 5 hour enduro as well as a new 3 hour novice race.

All racing takes place on approx. 8km of the best singletrack loaded race course you can find anywhere – fast, enjoyable, exciting, easy to follow by spectators and never too far away from the event village
